* 권력을 탐했고,
* 자리를 서둘렀고,
* 때로는 부모의 죽음을 기다리기까지 했습니다. 사마천은 그 비극의 끝을 이렇게 기록합니다.
(Relationship with my children in old age!
If you read the Records of the Grand Historian closely, you will notice one frightening commonality.
The being who was betrayed the most was not a subject, but the parent who was betrayed by their own child.
Especially that is how kings’ lives are.
There was power, wealth, and many people, but there are far too many cases where one child was mistrusted and everything was lost.
Through this story, Sima Qian leaves a deeply painful warning for the older generation.
“Parents’ expectations begin with love, but their end is often controlled.”
The kings thought this.
"Because he is my son, he will never harm me."
“Since I have inherited your blood, I will follow your will.”
"If you leave everything to me, you will take good care of me."
But reality was different.
The child is
* coveted power,
* Hurried to the seat,
* At times, I even waited for my parents to die. Sima Qian records the end of that tragedy like this.
“Parents trusted their children, but the children did not wait for their parents.”
For our current generation, this story is no longer the king’s story.
We are also repeating a similar mistake. *
“Later, the child will handle it on their own.”
"Now I guess I can let go
"Because I'm a parent, I'll understand, right?"
At that moment, it is quietly handing over the wheel of life.
From then on, people
* Losing the right to make decisions about one’s own life,
* A day is shaken by the child’s mood,
* In the end, you end up living your old age watching your children’s every move.
Sima Qian clearly states it through the Records of the Grand Historian.
“The moment parents entrust their children with life, no dignity remains there.”
A child should be an object of love, not of responsibility.
However, much old age turns love into dependence.
When dependence begins
* Gratitude becomes a demand,
* Consideration becomes something taken for granted,
* Old age becomes increasingly bleak.
An old age spent not relying on your children is not a cold and lonely old age.
It's the opposite.
* Children are allowed to live their own lives,
* I believe that living my own life is the healthiest form of relationship.
The tragedies of the many kings shown by Sima Qian ultimately boil down to this one thing.
“A life that depends on one’s children becomes a life that is shaken by them.”
There are three principles that must be observed in old age.
First, I will make the decisions of my life myself until the very end.
Second, clearly distinguish my life from my child’s life.
Third, even if you receive help, do not depend on it.
Even if you keep these three things, your self-esteem in old age will not
collapse.
A child is not the purpose of life, but merely a part of it. Whether your child succeeds or not does not determine the success or failure of your life.
Sima Qian quietly says this to us through the downfall of kings.
“If parents stay by their children’s side for too long, they become a burden to one another.”
The rest of your life is too precious to live as the shadow of a child.
Let your children follow their own path, and you should walk proudly on your own final path. That is the healthiest distance, both for parents and for children.)
