바닥짐(Ballast)🌲
거친 바다를 항해하는 배가 균형을 유지할 수 있는 것은 배 밑에 있는 바닥짐(ballast) 때문이다.
바닥짐이란 배가 전복 되는 것을
막기 위해서 배 바닥에 채워 넣은
돌이나 물건을 가리킨다.
우리 인생도 무겁게 느껴지는 바닥짐이 있어야 고난을 극복하고 무너지지 않는다.
평생을 아프리카인들의 삶과 노예제도 폐지를 위하여 살아온 '데이비드 리빙스턴'이 어느 모임에서 연설한 내용이다.
'리빙스턴'에게도 남들에게 말할 수 없는 고통이 있었다.
그에게는 집을 나가버린
방탕한 아들이 있었다.
그런 아들을 생각하며 남들 앞에서 더욱 겸손한 마음을 가졌고 어려움을 당하거나 도움을 필요로 하는 사람을 만나면 외면하지 않았다.
우리 인생도 이런 근심거리들이 발을 무겁게 한다.
그러나 장애물이라고 생각하였던 근심거리가
어쩌면 내 인생을 지탱하는 바닥짐일 수도 있다.
인생의 바닥짐은 자신의 안에 배려와 겸손을 채워 무너지지 않게 한다.
바닥짐은 버리는 것이 아니다.
자신에게 희망의 길을 보여주는 지혜의 눈이기 때문이다.
유명한 맨발의 인도 전도자인 '선다 싱'이 히말라야 산길을 걷다가 동행자를 만나서
같이 가는 도중에 눈 위에 쓰러져 있는 노인을 발견하였다.
'선다 싱'이 동행자에게 '여기에 있으면
이 사람은 죽으니 함께 업고 갑시다.' 하고 제안하였다.
그 말에 동행자가 '안타깝지만 이 사람을
데려가면 우리도 살기 힘들어요.'라고
대꾸하고 그냥 가버렸다.
'선다 싱'은 하는 수 없이 노인을 등에 업고
얼마쯤 가다 길에서 죽은 사람을 발견하였다.
그 사람은 다름 아닌 먼저 떠난 동행자였다.
'선다 싱'은 죽을 힘을 다해 눈보라 속을 걷다 보니 등에서는 땀이 났다.
두 사람의 체온이 더해져서 매서운 추위도 견녀낼 수가 있었다.
결국'선다 싱'과 노인은 무사히 살아남았고
혼자 살겠다고 떠난 사람은 불귀의 객이 되고 말았다.
사람을 가리키는 한자 '人'은 두 사람이 서로 등을 맞댄 형상이다.
나와 등을 맞댄 사람을
내치면 나도 넘어진다는 것이
人의 이치이다.
그렇게 서로의 등을
기대고서 살아가는 것이
바로 인생살이다.
히말라야의 동행자는
그것을 무시하고 행동하다
자신의 생명을 잃어버린 것이다.
훗날 어떤 사람이 '선다 싱'에게
'인생에서 가장 위험할 때가
언제입니까?' 하고 물었다.
'선다 싱'은 '내가 지고 가야할
짐이 없을 때가 인생에서
가장 위험할 때입니다.'
라고 대답하였다.
사람들은 자신의 짐이
가벼워지기를 바라지만
그때가 위험하다는 것이
'선다 싱'의 가르침이다.
먼 바다를 떠나는 선박도
항해를 시작하기 전 배의
밑바닥에 물을 가득 채운다.
배의 전복을 막기 위해
채우는 바닥짐이다.
우리 인생 역시 마찬가지이다ᆢ🤌

On our way together, we found an old man lying on the snow.

When he said that, his companion said, "It's unfortunate, but this person
It's hard for us to live if you take us.'
I answered back and just walked away.
"Sunda Singh" has no choice but to carry an old man on his back
Some time later, I found a dead man on the street.
He was none other than a companion who left first.
"Sunda Singh" sweated on his back as he walked in the snowstorm with all his might.
The two people's body temperature was added, so they could endure the bitter cold.
In the end, Sundar Singh and the old man survived
A person who left to live alone became a ghost.
The Chinese character '人' referring to a person is the shape of two people facing each other.
The person who's facing me
If I hit it, I would fall too
It's the reason of man.
Like that, each other's backs
Lying on your back
It's life.
The Himalayan companion is
act in defiance of it
He has lost his life.
Later, someone told "Sunda Singh"
"The most dangerous time in your life"
When is it?' he asked.
"Sunda Sing" is "I have to
lose."
When you don't have any luggage in your life
It's the most dangerous time.'
replied that.
People think that their luggage is
I hope it gets lighter
That's when it's dangerous
It's the teaching of 'Sunda Singh'.
Even ships that leave the distant ocean
of a ship before embarking on a voyage
Fill the bottom with water.
To prevent the overturning of the ship
It's a load of flooring to fill.
