사찰을 가보면 동서남북으로 4천왕(天王)을 두고 있으며, 4종류의 영적인 동물로 "청룡(靑龍), 백호(白虎), 주작(朱雀), 현무(玄武)"를 가리켜 4령(四靈) 이라고 부릅니다.

" 패경초" 라는 경전(經典)에,
친구를 네가지 부류(部類)로
분류(分類)하고 있습니다.
□ 화우(花友),
□ 칭우(稱友),
□ 산우(山友),
□ 지우(地友)등이다.
첫째, 화우(花友)는
꽃과 같은 친구이다.
꽃이 예쁠때는 그 아름다움에
찬사를 아끼지 않는다.
꽃이 지고나면 돌아보는 이가
하나도 없듯이,
자기가 좋을때만 찾는
친구가 화우(花友)이다.
둘째, 칭우(稱友)는
저울 처럼 움직이는 친구이다.
저울은 무게에 따라
이쪽저쪽 왔다갔다 기운다.
이 같이 자신의
이익 유무(有無)에 따라,
이익이 큰쪽으로 움직이는
친구가 칭우(稱友)이다.
셋째, 산우(山友)는
산(山)같은 친구이다.
산(山)이란, 온갖 새와 짐승들의
안식처(安息處)이다.
멀리서 보거나 가까이 가거나
늘, 그 자리에서 반겨 준다.
그처럼 생각만해도 편안하고
마음 든든한 친구가

결국(結局)엔 버려지듯이 남의 들러리로 사는 삶,
결국엔 후회(後悔)만 남는다.

둘은 공존(共存)할 수 없다. 사람의 관계(關係)도 이와 같다.
최적(最適)의 거리(距離)를 유지(維持)할 때 공존한다.
바둑의 정석(定石)을 실전(實戰)에서 그대로 두는 고수(鼓手)는 없다.
정석대로 두면 어느 한쪽이 불리(不利)해 지기 때문이다.
이처럼 인생의 정석도 불리하지 않기 위해 배운다.
죽어 가는 사람은 살려도 이미 죽은 사람은 살릴 수 없다.
끝나지 않은 인연이라면 살리되,
끝난 인연이라면 미련(未練)을 갖지 마라.
밥을 이기는 충견(忠犬)도 드물고,
돈을 이기는 충신(忠臣)도 드물다.
향기(香氣)가 없던 몸에 향수(香水) 뿌려주면 향기를 풍(風)기듯
메마른 마음에 온정(溫情)을 뿌려주면 사람냄새를 풍기기 마련이다.
때문에 “신(神)의 한 수 같은 인생(人生)은 없다.”
우리네 삶은 주단(朱丹)을 깔거나 로또 복권(福券)이 아니다.
거저 얻는 것은 없다.
건강(健康)은 몸을 단련(鍛鍊)해야 얻을 수 있고,
행복(幸福)은 마음을 단련해야 얻을 수 있다
삶은 웃음과 눈물의 코바늘로
행복(幸福)의 씨실과 불행(不幸)의 날실을 꿰는 것과 같다.

282. 왜 사는가?
왜 사는가~~?
"인생을 살아오면서
“왜 사는가?라는 의문을 누구나 한번쯤은 가져 보게 됩니다. 하지만 늘 명쾌한 답을 찾을 수가 없습니다.
그러나 어느 법문시간
한 청년의 질문에,
법륜 스님은 이 고민을
한방에 해결해 주었습니다.
“사람이 즐겁게,
때로는 고되게
하루하루를 살아가는 이유가 무엇입니까?
왜 사는 걸까요?”하고
청년이 물었습니다.
그러자
법륜스님이
다음과 같이 얘기했습니다.
“사람이 하루하루를 사는 데에는
아무 이유가 없습니다.
그냥 사는 거예요.
풀이 자라는 데 이유가 있나요?
토끼가 자라는데 이유가 있습니까?
없잖아요!
그처럼 사람이
사는것도 다 그냥 사는 거예요.
그런데
그 삶이 즐거운지 아니면,괴로운지는
자기 마음을 제대로,
쓰느냐 못 쓰느냐에 따라 달라집니다.
그러니 ‘왜 사느냐?’는
올바른 질문이 아니고,
‘어떻게 살아야 하느냐?’가 올바른 질문입니다.
괴롭게 살지 않고
즐겁게 사는 법은 있습니다.
힘들다고 다 괴로운게 아니니까요.
군사훈련받느라 산에 올라갔다 오나, 등산하러 산에 갔다 오나 육체적 고된것은 같습니다.
그런데 군사훈련 하느라 산에 갔다 오면 괴롭고, 등산하고 오면 고되지만 즐겁잖아요.
여러분들도 자신이 좋아하고 원하는 일을 해 보세요.
힘들지만 즐거울 것입니다.
저도 이렇게 강연을 하다 보면 잠도 부족하고 힘들지만...
제가 좋아하는 부처님의 진리를 얘기할 수 있기에 즐겁습니다.
저는 부처님 말씀을 전하기 위해서는
돈을 주고라도 들려줬으면 좋겠습니다.
그래서 예전에
진짜로 돈을 주고
어떤 택시 기사
한분에게 법문을 듣게 했어요.
제가 김해공항에 내려서 부산에
법문 하러 갈 때 이야기입니다.
시간이 너무 늦어서 택시를 탔는데,
그 택시 기사가
차를 아주 난폭하게 몰았어요.
‘이 사람이 얼마나 짜증이 나면,
이렇게 신경질적으로 차를 몰겠나’ 싶어서,
제가 “아이고 오늘 기분 나쁜 일이 많이 있었나 보죠?” 그러니까,
마누라가 도망 갔다는 거예요. 일곱 살짜리 애가 있는데...
그래서 제가
한 시간에 얼마나 버냐고 물으니까
대략 8000원 정도 번대요.
그래서 제가
“그럼 4만 원에 다섯 시간 대절합시다.”라고 했더니 좋다는 거예요.
그래서 다섯 시간 대절하기로 약속하고 절 앞에 와서 내렸어요.
그러고는 제가 4만원을 주면서, “다섯 시간 차 세워 놓고 법당에 들어와서 법문을 들으세요!”라고 말했어요.
그 사람이 그렇게 난폭 운전을 하다 교통사고라도 나면,
많은 사람들이 큰 피해를 입게 됩니다.
또한 그렇게 계속 신경질적으로 생활을 하면 자녀 교육에도 굉장히 나쁠 테고요.
그러니 그분이
무엇이 문제 인지를
자각해서 부인이 없는 상태에서도, 안전하게 운전할 수 있게 된다면,
나갔던 부인이 돌아올 가능성도 있고, 사고 위험도 줄지 않겠어요.
그런데 그분한테
그냥 법문을 들으라고 했으면 들었을까요? 당연히 안 들었겠죠?
어떻게 사는 게 행복하게 사는 길이냐?
얼마든지 길이 있어요.
거룩한 삶을 살려면 어떻게 살아야 하느냐?
우선 거룩한 삶을 살겠다는 생각을 버려야 거룩하게 살 수 있지, 거룩하게 살겠다는 생각을 움켜쥐고 있으면,
나날이 인생이 괴로워지고 비참해 집니다.
인생은 그냥
저 길옆에 핀 한 포기 잡초와 같다고 생각하세요.
아무것도 아니에요.
그냥 길에 난 풀 한 포기나,
산에 있는 다람쥐나 여러분이나
다 똑같아요.
별 거 아니에요.
감사합니다 여러분들이 아무리...
잘난 척해도
100일만 안 먹으면 죽고,
코 막고 10분만 놔두면 죽습니다.
내 것이라고 움켜쥐고 있지만,
내 것인지 점검해 봐야 하고
자기가 옳다고 주장하지만,
옳은지 점검해 봐야 해요.
사실은 다 꿈속에 살고 있어요.
거룩한 삶!
그런 거 없습니다.
여러분들이
자기라는 것을 다 내려놓으면,
삶이 결과적으로 거룩해집니다.
석가모니부처님께서는...
왕위도 버리고
다 떨어진 옷 하나 입고, 나무 밑에 앉아 명상하고, 주는 밥을 얻어 먹으면서도, 천하를 다 가지고 있는
왕에게 인생 상담을
해 주셨기 때문에 거룩하신 겁니다.
모든 걸 가져
부족한 게 없어 보이는 왕에게, 아무것도 가진 게 없는 부처님께서
조언을 해 주셨죠.
그분은
“내가 특별한 존재다”
하지 않으셨어요.
만약 그렇게 말했다면,
부처님은 거룩한 존재가 되지 못했겠지요.
자기를 내려놓고
가볍게 생활하면
결과적으로 삶이 거룩해집니다.
질문할 때는 심각한 표정이었던, 청년이 스님의 답변을 듣고 나선 환하게 웃었습니다.
“왜 사느냐”라고 질문한 배경에는
무언가 거룩하게 살아야 한다는
강박관념이 있었던 것입니다.
‘나는 특별한 존재다.
그러므로 의미 있게 살아야 한다’는
생각을 갖고 있었기 때문에, 삶의 의미를 찾아보게 되는 것입니다. 움켜쥐고 있던 자기를 내려놓고
그냥 가볍게 살면,
그것이 진정 행복한 인생이구나!
명쾌하게 알게 되어
기쁜 마음이 일었을 겁니다.

Is there a reason why rabbits grow up?
There isn't!
A person like him
Everything I buy is just buying.

Whether it's fun or painful
It's about how you feel,
It depends on whether you use it or not.
So, "Why do you buy it?"
It's not the right question,
'How should I live?' is the right question.
I don't live in agony
There is a way to live happily.
It's not all painful just because it's hard.
It's the same physically hard to go up the mountain for military training or to climb the mountain.
But it's painful when you go to the mountain for military training, and it's painful when you climb a mountain, but it's fun.
You should do what you like and want.

I said, "Then let's pay 40,000 won for five hours" and he said it was good.
So I promised to pay a five-hour reservation and came to the front of the temple and got off.
Then I gave him 40,000 won and said, "You can park for five hours and come into the law house and listen to the law!"
If he gets into a car accident while driving so violently,
A lot of people suffer a lot.
Also, if you continue to live such a nervous life, it will be very bad for your children's education.

What's the problem
If you become aware that you can drive safely, even without your wife,

280. 화가 날 때는 침묵하세요.
화날 때 말을 많이 하면
대개 후회 거리가 생기고
그때 잘 참으면 그것이 추억
거리가 됩니다.
즉, 화가 날 때는 침묵을 하십시오.
불길이 너무 강하면 고구마가
익지 않고 껍질만 탑니다.
살다보면 기쁘고 즐거울 때도 있고 슬프고
괴로울 때도 있습니다.
그러나 우리가 고통스러운 순간에도 결코 좌절하거나 낙심하지 않는 것은 즐거움과 기쁨엔 깊이가 없지만 고통에는 깊이가 있기 때문일 것입니다.

Encouraged by her stepmother's encouragement, Napuleon sold her gun and bought a typewriter.
As he learned to type from his stepmother, he became interested in translating his thoughts into writing.
This is one of the words that Napoleon left behind.
"There is only one thing in the world that a person can control perfectly.
