434. 한 평생

한평생
   
요 앞,
시궁창에서 오전에 부화한 하루살이는

점심 때 사춘기를 지나고
오후에 짝을 만나
저녁에 결혼했으며
자정에 새끼를 쳤고
새벽이 오자 천천히
해진 날개를 접으며 외쳤다.

"춤추며 왔다가 춤추며 가노라!"

미루나무 밑에서 날개를 얻어 칠일을 산 늙은 매미가 말했다.

"득음도 있었고 지음이 있었다."

꼬박 이레 동안 노래를 불렀으나 한 번도 나뭇잎들이 박수를 아낀 적은 없었다.

칠십을 산 노인이 중얼거렸다.

"춤출 일 있으면 내일로 미뤄두고
노래할 일 있으면 모레로 미뤄두고
모든 좋은 일은
좋은 날 오면 하고 미뤘더니,
가뿐 숨만 남았구나."

그 즈음
어느 바닷가에선 천 년을 산 거북이가 느릿느릿 천 년째 걸어가고 있었다.

"모두 한평생이다!"

재미있고 해학적이며 시사하는 바가 큰 詩다.

하루를 살았건 천 년을 살았건 한평생이다.

하루살이는
시궁창에서 태어나
하루를 살았지만
제 몫을 다하고 갔다.

춤추며 왔다가
춤추며 간다고 외쳤다니,
그 삶은 즐겁고 행복한
삶이었을 것이다.

매미는 7년을 넘게 땅 속에서 굼벵이로 인고의 시간을 보내고 7일을 살고 가지만 득음도 있었고 지음도 있었다니 얼마나 대단한 일인가.

인간은 음을 알고 이해하는데 10년은 걸리고
소리를 얻어 자유자재로
노래할 수 있는 경지에 이르자면
한평생도 부족하다는데,
매미는 짧은 生에서 다 이루었다니
정말 대단하지 않은가.

사람은
기쁘거나 즐거운 일이 있어도 즐기지 못하고 모두 다음으로 미룬다.

모든 좋은 일은
좋은 날이 오면 하고 미뤘더니
가뿐 숨만 남았다니
이 얼마나 허망하고 황당한 일인가.

무엇이 그리 바쁜지
맹목적으로 허둥대며 살다가

후회만 남기고 가는 게
우리네 인생인가보다.

천 년을 산 거북이는
모든 걸 달관한 듯
세상에 바쁜 일이 없어 보인다.

느릿느릿 걸어도
제 갈 길 다 가고
제 할 일 다 하며
건강까지 지키니
천 년을 사나 보다.

그러니까
하루를 살던 천 년을 살던
허긴 모두가 일평생이다.

이 詩에서 보면
하루살이는 하루살이대로
매미는 매미대로
거북이는 거북이답게
모두가 후회 없는 삶인데
유독 인간만이
후회를 남기는 것 같다.

사람이 죽은 뒤 무덤에 가보면
"껄 껄 껄~~" 하는 소리가 난다는 우스갯 소리가 있다.

웃는 소리가 아니라
좀 더 사랑할 껄
좀 더 즐길 껄
좀 더 베풀며 살 껄
이렇게 '껄껄껄' 하면서 후회를 한다니 이 얼마나 어리석고 미련한 일인가.

일면,
재미있어 보이는 이 詩가 사람들에게 많은 교훈과 깨달음을 주고 있는 것 같다.

그렇지 않은가?
만물의 영장인 인간만이 깨달음을 알기까지 한 평생을 살아도 모자라다는 시사점을 주고 있는 점,

인생은 마음먹기에 따라서 얼마든지 달라질 수 있고, 달라져야 한다는 점을 깨닫기를 바라는 시가 아니겠는가~??
