어느 노인이 전하는 인생 조언(助言)

나의 편지를 읽게 될 고마운
지인들에게!

오늘도 그대들은 바쁜 하루를
보내고 있겠지요?

하지만 아무리 바빠도 밥은 꼭
챙겨드세요.

여기까지 와보니 알겠습디다.
비싼 돈으로 산 핸드폰 70프로의 성능은 사용하지도 않았고,

나의 비싼 차도 70프로의 성능은 필요도 없는 것이였고,

호화로운 우리집도 70프로의 면적은 비여있는 공간이나 마찬가지 였으며,

옷과 일용품들 70프로 또한
지극히 필요가 없는 것들이였소!

"살아보니 인생은 경기장과 같더군요."

전반전은 학력, 직위, 권력, 돈을
비기며 살아왔고,

그런 것들이 높고 많으면 이기는 것인 줄 알았지요!

하지만 후반전은 다릅디다.

전반전의 승리를 위해 청춘을
바쳤던 하나 밖에 없는 몸

혈압, 혈당, 당뇨, 뇨산을 낮추기에 후반전은 급급했지요.

전반전은 나보다 높은
코치의 명령을 따라야 했고,

후반전은 나의 명줄을 잡고있는
의사의 명령을 따라야 했습니다!

이제야 알겠더군요.

전반전에서 높이 쌓았던 모든
것들이 잘못하면 후반전에서 누릴 수가 없다는 걸

하물며 경기도 중간에 쉼이
있었거늘 나도 쉬며 쉬며 갔어야 했던 것을...

전반전에서 앞만 보고 정신없이
살았던 날들 이제는 씁쓸한 추억으로 남았소...

아직은 건강한 지인들에게!

아프지 않아도 해마다 건강검진을 받아보고,

목마르지 않아도 물을
많이 마시며, 괴로운 일 있어도 훌훌 털어버리는 법을 배우며,

양보하고 베푸는 삶도 나쁘지
않으니 그리 한번 살아보시구려!

돈과 권력이 있다해도 교만하지
말고, 부유하진 못해도 사소한 것에 만족을 알며,

피로하지 않아도 휴식할 줄 알며, 아무리 바빠도 움직이고 또 운동하세요.

3천원짜리 옷 가치는 영수증이
증명해주고,

3천만원짜리 자가용은 수표가
증명해 주고,

5억짜리 집은 집문서가 증명해 주는데,

사람의 가치는 무엇이 증명해
주는지 알고 계시나요?

바로, 건강한 몸이랍니다!

건강에 들인 돈은 계산기로
두드리지 마세요.

건강할 때 있는 돈을
자산이라고 부르지만

아픈 뒤 그대가 쥐고 있는 돈은
그저 유산일 뿐이니...

세상에서 당신을 위해 차를 몰아 줄 기사는 얼마든지 있고,

세상에서 당신을 위해 돈을 벌어줄 사람도 역시 있을 것이오!

하지만 당신의 몸을 대신해 아파 줄 사람은 결코 없답니다,

물건을 잃어버리면 다시 찾거나
사면 되지만

영원히 되찾을수 없는 것은 하나 뿐인 생명이라오!

내가 여기까지 와보니 돈이 무슨 소용이 있는가?

무한한 재물의 추구는
나를 그저 탐욕스러운 늙은이로
만들어 버립디다

내가 죽으면 나의 호화로운 별장은 내가 아닌 누군가가 살게 되겠지요.

내가 죽으면 나의 고급진
차 열쇠는 누군가의 손에 넘어가게 되겠지요.

내가 한 때 당연한 것으로 알고
누렸던 많은 것들...

돈, 권력, 직위 이제는 그저 쓰레기에 불과할 뿐

그러니...
전반전을 살고있는 사람들아 너무 총망히 살지들 말고

후반전에서 살고 있는 사람들아
아직 경기는 끝나지 않았으니 행복한 만년을 위해 지금부터라도
자신을 사랑해 보세요.

전반전에서 빛나는 승리를 거두었던 나는 후반전은 병마를 이기지 못하고 패배로 마무리 짓지만

그래도 이 편지를 지인들에게
전할 수 있음에 따뜻한 기쁨을 느낀답니다.

바쁘게 세상을 살아가는 그대들...

자신을 사랑하고 돌보며 살아가기를 힘없는 나는 이젠 마음으로그대들의 행운을 
빌 뿐이라오.

누구보다도 먼저 웃고 많이 웃는 행복한 나날들로 가득 채우시길바랍니다.

People living in the second half
The game is not over yet, so for a happy later life
