120. 발상의 전환

1. 발상의 전환  

마차의 바퀴는 맨 처음 나무로 되어 있었습니다.
그러나 나무는 너무 쉽게 닳았습니다.
그래서 쇠로 만들었습니다.
그런데 이번에는 쿠션이 없어서 엉덩이가 너무 아팠습니다.
그래서 쇠바퀴가 굴러가는 길바닥에 고무를 깔아 보았습니다.
그랬더니 너무 편하고 좋았습니다.

문제는 그 넓고 긴 길바닥에 고무를 까는 일이 문제였습니다.
너무 큰 비용과 노동력이 소모되었습니다.
그때 어떤 사람이 말했습니다.

“길바닥하고 바퀴를 서로 바꾸어 보면 어떨까?”
“에이, 그건 말도 안 돼. 단단한 쇠 바퀴도 차의 무게를 견디기 힘든데,
고무는 무거운 것을 올려놓기에는 너무 물렁물렁해서 적합하지 않아.
그건 절대로 불가능한 일이야!”

그러나 이 사람은 연구에 연구를 거듭해서 고무 속에
바람을 넣은 타이어를 개발해냈습니다.
순식간에 고무 길바닥과 쇠바퀴가 바뀐 것입니다.
이 사람이 바로 영국 출신의 수의사이자 '던롭밸브'의 창시자인
존 보이드 던롭(1840~1921)입니다.

"그건 절대로 불가능해!" "그 일을 내가 어떻게 해?"
절대로 불가능하다고 생각되는 일.
혹시 내가 가진 고정관념은 아닐까요?

삶의 현장에서 변화를 가로막는 고정관념을
확~ 떨쳐버리는 열린 나날 되시기 바랍니다.

The wheels of the wagon were first made of wood.
However, the wood was worn out too easily.
So I made it out of iron.
But this time, I didn't have a cushion, so my butt hurt so much.
So I laid rubber on the road where the iron wheels were rolling.
Then, it was so comfortable and nice.

The problem was to peel rubber on the wide, long road.
Too much cost and labor was consumed.
Someone said at the time.

"Why don't you swap the wheels with the street?"
"Oh, that's ridiculous. Even hard iron wheels can't bear the weight of the car,
Rubber is not suitable because it is too soft to put heavy things on top.
That is absolutely impossible!"

But this guy has been working on it, and he's been working on it, and he's been working on it
We have developed a tire with air in it.
The rubber floor and the iron wheel changed in an instant.
This is a British veterinarian and the founder of the Dunlop Valve
John Boyd Dunlop (1840-1921).

'That's absolutely impossible!' 'How can I do that?'
a thing that is deemed absolutely impossible.
Maybe it's not my stereotype?

The stereotypes that stand in the way of change in the field of life
